On November 11, 2015, the National Guild for Community Arts Education and Creative Philadelphia — the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy hosted a free, public forum at the Philadelphia Clef Club. Panelists discussed what is at stake in our communities when wide disparities persist in who has access to arts and culture, as well as what we all can do to increase cultural equity.

The forum can be watched in full here.

Panelists included:

  • Helen E. Haynes, Chief Cultural Officer, Creative Philadelphia — the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Philadelphia, PA
  • Jonathan Herman, Executive Director, National Guild for Community Arts Education, New York, NY
  • Mark Stern, Professor, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA
  • Kira Strong, Vice President of Community and Economic Development, People’s Emergency Center, Philadelphia, PA
